Sidewalks. The City of Cold Lake prohibits anyone who owns or occupies land from letting snow or ice remain for more than 48 hours on any public sidewalk adjoining the land (Community Standards Bylaw 816-PL-23, section 8.1).
Snow on the road. Snow or ice may not be placed on City property, including roads, ditches, culverts or catch basins, other than the boulevard adjacent to your land, or on another person's property without consent (Community Standards Bylaw 816-PL-23, section 8.2). A limited exception applies where a building abuts a public sidewalk (section 8.3).
City plowing. Priority 1 routes are cleared as soon as possible after snowfall, Priority 2 within 3 days, Priority 3 within 5 days and residential (Priority 5) within 15 days.
For contractors. There is currently no dumping fee for snow collected within Cold Lake city boundaries, but private contractors must register with the City and submit monthly tracking reports. Parking signs go up at least 24 hours before snow removal (Traffic Bylaw 536-PL-14).
